Bourbeau Custom Homes is proud to display this beautiful home in our Showcase of Homes. We built this home in Fairfax Vermont on a 5.6 acre lot that the client found and purchased themselves. The homeowners have several large dogs that they wanted to allow to roam free and the lot they chose was perfect for their extended family. A lot of thought and design went into the layout of this home, with the client having total control throughout the entire design process. They wanted to have an area for themselves so we included an extension on the deck with a hot tub where they can see two sides of their lot and keep an eye on their beloved pets while they enjoy a nice evening basking in the hot tub.

This home boasts a beautiful Open Concept design. The main floor consists of the living room, kitchen, dining room and master bedroom with a master bath. Entering the home from the front you are immediately introduced to the open space of these rooms, and the large windows allowing for a view of the rear yard and wooded section of the lot. The fireplace is situated between the window space for comfort in the cool evenings. The flooring throughout the living area is a custom ordered Brazilian Cherry Hardwood. The stairs leading to the second floor are constructed of Hard Maple and Brazilian Cherry to accent the flooring.

There are two bedrooms on the second floor as well as a common full bath. The homeowners chose carpeting for the second floor for added warmth and comfort when guests stay over. The living area on the first floor was designed with a Post & Beam style construction allowing for wide spans of the ceiling and adding a very nice touch to the overall decor of the home. Inset throughout the ceiling are recessed lighting that gives this home a quiet and warm feeling at night.

The long winter evenings in Northern Vermont are easily shortened by the ability to do what you enjoy, and it is even better if you can enjoy it at your own home. The client wanted to have a place to relax so we extended the deck, strengthened the supports and installed a beautiful hot tub on the outer end. Accessible by either a set of double side doors from the living room or directly from the stairs leading up from the yard makes getting to the hot tub very convenient. The deck is built off the ground and is being utilized as a storage are for the hardwood for the fireplace. Getting at the hardwood for a fire on a cool evening is very convenient. In time the homeowner may decide to section off and enclose part of this area to make more available storage for lawn equipment and such. With a full size two car garage that time may be a while coming, but should they decide to the option is always there.
